Let's face it: napping does really give a boost to a mundane, exhausting day. Many of us wake up, feel refreshed & more alert, and are somehow able to work better.

Midday, post-lunch lethargy is more ubiquitous than we believe. Most people experience a dip in their alertness, and usually resort to caffeine-infused stimulants like coffee & tea to stay up!

However, in many work cultures like the Japanese, firms have begun allotting specified naptimes to their workforce to enhance productivity! Culturally, sleeping at work in Japan illustrates you have been working hard! ✍️

But then, why do we feel guilty for napping? Is it just an internalised excuse for laziness? Let's understand it better...

Why nap at all?

Naps help in:

  • Enhancing productivity
  • Encouraging learning abilities
  • Fostering creativity
  • Improving performance
  • Uplifting mood.
